Fremont Street Nursery has officially broken ground on a much-needed building expansion that will allow us to serve even more children and families in our community. This milestone comes more than a decade after a pivotal moment in our history—when, eleven years ago, the former King Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 54 generously donated $53,000 to support our mission. That gift helped set the groundwork for the growth we are now able to pursue.
The $400,000 expansion will increase our licensed capacity from 84 to 100 children. Designed by Leesa Mayfield of LMA Architecture, the project will remove an aging enclosed porch and replace it with two new classrooms, add a child-sized ADA-compliant bathroom, and renovate one of our existing classrooms.
Construction will be completed by Lantz Construction Winchester (LCW), with hopes of finishing by spring—possibly sooner if weather allows. This marks Fremont Street Nursery’s first major expansion since 2007, continuing our 82-year commitment to providing affordable, high-quality childcare on a sliding-fee scale.
